My interest in photography began when I was a young girl helping my Dad develop black and white family pictures in our basement dark room.  Back then, my favorite developing technique involved placing a quarter on the photographic image to create a moon in the picture (pre image editing software days).

My passion for photography grew during my undergraduate studies in Kenya through St. Lawrence University's semester abroad program, my research in Costa Rica as a Yale graduate student, and my subsequent work experience in Nepal as a wildlife biologist for World Wildlife Fund. The awesome landscapes and wildlife I encountered overseas were the initial subjects of my amateur photography.  However, as I learned the languages and cultures of these new worlds, my interests gradually expanded to also include the colorful people living there.

I am now married and living in Amherst, New York, with my husband Bob, four young children and our Airedale Terrier.  My new role as Mom has opened my eyes to yet another world inspiring my more recent interest in photographing babies, toddlers, families and pets.  Though the faces and places I now shoot are less exotic, I find them equally captivating.  Life's changes now provide me with an exciting career as an assignment photographer in Buffalo, Rochester and their surrounding suburbs.
